I had the privilege of documenting the Dressmaker runway show, a collection inspired by school life in the Philippines. I was brought in from the earliest stages, capturing the journey from concept to the live presentation. My role focused on documentary photography, ensuring the full story of the show—from rehearsals to the final runway—was visually preserved.

Working behind the scenes, I photographed the preparation process, including hair and makeup testing. The beauty team, led by Lea Ancheta with prosthetics by Geraldyn Cañete, explored a glossy peel-off aesthetic and creative elements like painted plaid lips, giving the collection a distinctive, playful edge. The attention to detail in these prep sessions was incredible, and capturing these moments was key to showing how much care and artistry went into every look.
The model cast was deliberately diverse, blending professionals and fresh faces. Paolo Roldan headlined the show, alongside talents cast off the street with no prior runway experience. The lineup also included notable personalities such as DJ Love, the grandfather of Budots, Jeff White from the Bahala Na gang, rappers Miss A and Fateeha from Moro Beats, as well as Thugsta and Iggy Napoles. Adding to the theatrical flair, impersonators of fashion icons like Anna Wintour and Donatella Versace joined the runway, creating a unique and vibrant energy that translated beautifully on camera.
Rehearsals took place at Estuar Farm in Binangonan, providing a scenic yet practical space for the team to refine movements, timing, and choreography. On show day, a heavy rain poured down, but it only amplified the authenticity of the experience, demonstrating the realities of staging a live event in the Philippines. Despite the weather, the show went on and was live-streamed, capturing the resilience, dedication, and spirit of everyone involved.
In addition to the runway, I documented the after-party at Annex House Makati, preserving candid moments of celebration, camaraderie, and the vibrant energy of the event. These images complemented the runway coverage, giving a full narrative of the Dressmaker show from preparation to conclusion. The project was a testament to collaboration and creativity, with every team member contributing to a complex, high-energy production.
